I’m Baaack!

Whoa…it’s been awhile!  To be honest I don’t really know where to start, but I can say that it feels SO good to be back.  Between work, remodeling the house, and day to day life, blogging definitely got put on the back burner.  Life is finally slowing down a little bit (err…kind of), so I decided now was as good a time as ever to jump back in.

In March of this year, I decided to quit my full time day job and try my hand at this whole being your own boss thing.  And let me tell you, that is the best decision I have ever made.  Probably one of the scariest, but definitely the best.  The Type A in me wanted to have my new website launched, blog redesigned, and all the pretty details (or not so pretty details) hashed out before jumping into entrepreneur land…BUT, life is messy, and when opportunity knocks, you answer the door.  So bear with me over the next month or so as a lot of changes happen around these parts.  We’re striving for progress, not perfection here folks.

In addition to that crazy life change, I am happy to announce that all of the renovations are D-O-N-E on #theharriethouse, AND on top of that, it has since sold.  Talk about a huuuge stress reliever.  I’ll be sharing all of the before and after pictures this week (and trust me, you want to see that transformation), so…stay tuned.

My Favorite Love Story is Ours

Being absent from blogland for 2+ years leaves you with all of these ideas bouncing around in your head, and while I can’t wait to jump in and share them with you guys, we’re going to keep this post short and sweet.  After all, it is Memorial Day Weekend and you should be out celebrating. :)  See you all back here on Tuesday!

that time when I didn’t blog for a month…

I’m baaaaack! (because I know you all missed me so much, ha).  I never intended to take such a long break from this little blog-o-mine, but with all the traveling we were doing the past month, it happened. And now I’m ready to be back in action.

So, to kick off, I thought we’d take a little look at what we all did over the past month while I was MIA in the blogosphere.

May: The first part of May was spent cramming as much stuff into my brain as possible so I could survive finals week.  That was followed by a weeklong trip to Denver for my graduation (wahoo!), where I got to spend time with my long lost roomie/best friend.  She’s not really long lost, I just rarely get to see her since we live states apart.

The day I came home from Denver, Noel picked me up at the airport, and we headed straight up to my cabin for Memorial Day (somehow I escaped the weekend with no pictures…I don’t know how that happened).
June: We were then home for all of 2 days, before we packed up and headed to one of my favorite cities, Chicago, for a long weekend trip to see these cool kids.  Fun fact: we met them on our honeymoon, and they got married the same day as us.

Ever since we returned home, things have been just as crazy.  We’ve been frantically finishing the last few projects, which I’ll fill you in more on Friday (spoiler alert: the pantry is finally done!), and I’ve been busy working away at the two bathroom remodels I’m doing.  We’re both excited for things to slow down a little, but let’s be real, it’s summer, so the likelihood of that happening is slim to none.  Until next time!

parade of homes: spring 2013

My all-time favorite time of the year is Parade of Home season.  This weekend is the last weekend, so I am making it a point to get out one day and see some of these beauties.  Here are some of the homes I’m dying to get a closer look at:

Home #R24 by Castle Remodeling

Home #224 by Tradition Homes LLC
Home #R42 by w.b. builders
This kitchen is perfection.  I want it in my house riiight now.
Home #244 by Homes by Tradition
I feel like I need to preface this last one.  I don’t usually post a ton of really modern homes on Through the Front Door, primarily because it’s not for everyone.  Generally, I try to stick to contemporary homes that have clean lines, but soft, inviting accents.  With that being said, I absolutely LOVE me a good modern home.  The clean lines, the open space, the lack of anything unnecessary…design heaven.  So with all of that being said, this house I am out of my mind excited to go see.
Dream Home #359 by Lansted LLC

Isn’t it just out of this world?! I love the contrast, the color palette, everything.  And the fact that it’s on Lake Minnetonka just makes it that much better.  For those of you not from MN, I don’t even know how to begin to describe the awesomeness that is Lake Minnetonka.  The best part about Minnesota are its lakes, and aside from Lake Superior (Duluth represent!), Lake Minnetonka is the creme of the crop.
Do you guys all have Parade of Home tours where you’re from?
