Budget Friendly Gold + Navy Living Room

Despite Noel being off work sick last Thursday + Friday, we actually made a lot of progress on the house this weekend.  By Sunday he was feeling 100 times better, so we finished framing out the half bath downstairs.  We still have some really little things left to do as far as framing goes, but it feels pretty good to be able to check that off the list.

Also this weekend, we bought our couch (!!!) which is still pretty crazy to think about.  I’ll share pictures with you later this week, because today, I’m going to keep it short and sweet.  Since we’re furnishing our entire house, we’re trying to keep costs at bay as much as possible, so I thought I’d share a little budget friendly living room inspiration board with you today.

I’ve been all aboard the gold train for quite some time, but lately, my love for navy as a new neutral color has been growing.  And you all know how I feel about reclaimed wood…so this is what happens when those worlds collide.navy-and-gold-$1200-living-roomSource List:

If you opted for the Urban Outfitters coffee table instead (which I actually like better, but I couldn’t get it to look right in the collage), you’d actually come in under $1100.  And if you ask me, that’s not too shabby for a living room as stunning as that.  Happy Monday!

Want List: Mint + Gold

It’s no secret that mint is probably my favorite color on earth (no exaggeration there).  However one color that has been sneaking its way onto my radar lately that you may not have guessed is gold.  For the past few years, I haven’t been too keen on gold, probably because the hues available were harsh, brassy, and grandma-esque.  In other words, it looked dated.  As of late, rose gold has made it’s presence known in the design world, and I am falling in love with it.  It’s a soft, gentle color that has a vintage vibe, and when you pair it with mint, man, I’m a goner.
Last week, I saw the mousepad below on Pinterest (it’s an awesome DIY, go check it out), and I’ve been seeing a few other items that are must haves, so today I thought I’d create a little inspiration board of all of my mint + gold must haves.  Enjoy!

master bedroom update (part 2)

In Part 1 on Monday, I told you we’re going to be redoing our bedroom, despite being almost done with it.  However, this redoing isn’t a complete waste, seeing as I’ll just move everything into our guest room.  This is the beauty from Crate&Barrel that inspired the change:

Everybody meet Del Re.  Gorgeous, isn’t she?  I was hesitant to buy her at first, since I knew I’d have to pretty much start from square one in terms of design, but with her $400 sale price tag (plus my designer discount on top of that), how could I say no to a bed that was originally over $2,000?  That’s right, I couldn’t.  Not only does it look awesome, it’s made of bamboo (hello eco-friendly), and crafted using the supercool traditional chinese joinery (Arch history nerd alert!), so yeah, to put it mildly, I was excited about this bed.

Noel was in love with it because he wanted a “low bed,” and he’s a huge fan of clean, modern lines.  According to the Home Goods Stylescope quiz (yes, I made him take it), his style was Urban Funk mixed with Modern Metro, and our new design speaks a lot more to that (plus a little bit of Farmhouse Glam thrown in for me).  Okay, I’ll quit teasing you all and show you the inspiration board.

4. Thrift Store Nightstand  |  5. DIY Chandelier  |  6. Lamps Plus Green Cube Pillow
7. Crate & Barrel Cooper Brass Vase  |  8. Z Gallerie Bella Bedding

You like? I like. I found that fabulous nightstand for $25 bucks, and have big plans for it.  Hint: it’s going to hang, and be turned into two nightstands. I think I’ll distress it a little more, but I actually like the green a lot.  It complements the gold chandelier (which will hang above it).  And guess what else: I made that chandelier out of toilet paper tubes.  No way, right?  I’ll post that tutorial after the holidays.  Because of the holidays, I’ll be taking a little blogging break, but I’ll be back in the new year with all sorts of goodies for you all.  Have a wonderful holiday season!
